We Can Show You the World!

Greetings from the office of the Principal!

Dr. Tamara Brown, PrincipalGreetings, I am Dr. Tamara Brown, and it is my pleasure to welcome you to Irving Elementary School located in Kewanee, IL. I wish to extend a warm welcome to all students, parents and community members.

Irving Elementary School’s Vision Statement: We are committed to motivating and educating students to learn in a caring school community.

Irving Elementary School’s faculty and staff are dedicated to providing quality education for our second and third graders. We meet together regularly to plan and evaluate our progress toward the school improvement and student learning processes. Additionally, faculty and staff members attend in-services and workshops designed to keep them informed about effective teaching practices and current trends.

Irving Elementary School’s programming is one of the best. We use a scientifically based reading curriculum, math curriculum, science and social studies curriculum. Additionally Irving stduents participate in daily social and emotional learning. We are a PBIS school which means we advocate for positive behaviors and reward students accordingly. We also have many interventions such as our Building Based Team and Title I programs to assist all students at Irving.  Each classroom at Irving Elementary School is equipped with a SMARTBoard technology. We have a lab of thirty computers and a multi-media library for student use. We also have iPads and Chromebooks that teachers can check out and use for students in their classrooms.

A vital component of our excellent school is the support of our parents and community. Irving Elementary is fortunate to have parent volunteers who donate their time working with students and assisting school activities. We have two to four family nights per year and we are fortunate to have a Parent Organization, our PTA, that helps fund field trips and other school sponsored activities for our students.
