In past business:
Several fundraisers this year have made it
possible for the PTO to purchase many items for the four different
schools. $6,000 in teacher grants have alowed us to
purchase Projectors and technology, Texas Instrument calculators,
TESTSMART materials to prepare for 5th grade ISAT tests, Scholastic Bowl
materials, laminator machine, Phonemic Awarness interactive books for
Leapsters, Hands on sight words materials for listening centers,
recorders, time pocket charts, tangram pattern cards and othert center
materials.
The PTO and funds from a Harry Anderson grant have made it possible to
purchase RIF (Reading is Fundamental) books for grades pre-school
through 6th grade students. Each student received 3 books each this past
school year. $1,675 of matching funds made this
possible.
The libraries of each elementary building have received new books this
year totaling $9,000 in purchases. The Accelerated
Reader Program has been recipient of $600 of reward
incentives.
Good Fellows and Salvation Army donations of
$800 have again taken place this year.
Costs such as admissions for various field trips have totaled over
$2,300.
Creative Kid night was held on Feburary 19, with 43 student displays
showing a variety of talents, such as woodworking, collections, music,
charts, experiments, Legos, sewing, scrapbooking and art.
We continue to offer a variety of food products
through the Market Day fundraiser every month, and will
continue sales throughout the summer months. This has been a steady
fundraiser each month. To place an

The BoxTops for Education labels are still being
collected, as well as Campbell Soup labels and Swiss Valley jug lids.
These provide cash and products for our schools.
In new business at the April
2009 meeting:
Save Cards are now on sale for
$5 and can be purchased from students or at Central school. The card has
a variety of savings and discounts at over 27 local businesses.
Yearbooks will be available the
week of May 18 or sooner. 304 yearbooks have been sold and orders will
be taken until 350 have been sold. Yearbooks are $10 each.
The 1st annual Kewanee PTO Golf Outing
will be held on Saturday, May 30, at 1 p.m. at Baker Park.
Baker Park members who have their own carts will only need to buy their
steak dinner at $18 per person. Non-members will pay $40. That includes
greens fees, cart and rib-eye dinner. Member paying for cart and dinner
will be $28. If you do not golf, please join us for a steak dinner for
$18. Contact Joan Becker at 853-2505 for more information and sign up
for this event.
There will be summer mini classes for the next
year's 4th, 5th, and 6th graders.
The date and courses offered will be announced next month. Cost will be
$30 per student for three classes that will last one week.

This is a brief summary of our accomplishments
and contributions to Kewanee Community Unit School District, over the
years since the school district has combined into attendance centers and
one elementary
PTO was formed.
$67,584 Library grants. Books, grants, RIF.
$59,408 Teacher grants. Computers, projectors, books, playground
equipment, balls, vests, floor mats, scale, laminators, Ellis machines
and die-cuts, calculators, popcorn poppers, and other various classroom
materials.
$19,125 Field trips
$3,250 Good Fellows Christmas Baskets
$1,500 Salvation Army school supplies
$4,924 Student teacher awards/rewards, Creative Kids, teacher
appreciation, ABCD, freezer and other miscellaneous.
TOTAL $155,791 for an average of $25,965 each
year.
