Our ultimate goal is to provide students with skills and experiences that will help them meet challenges and be successful both in the short and the long term. Every learner at Central school will be known, valued and inspired. A strong partnership between the school, the family, and the student helps make this happen. Together, we must provide a variety of learning experiences to help our students grow academically and socially. At school, we use research based teaching strategies to teach children basic skills, thinking skills, decision making and problem solving. We have high academic and behavioral expectations for students. Quality work is expected and recognized. We invite parents to be involved and take an active role in the school.

Kewanee CUSD #229 5 Essentials Survey Press Release
Kewanee School District #229 has consistently participated in the statewide 5Essentials Survey and is opting to administer the survey to teachers and students again this year to continue tracking and informing progress.
The Illinois 5Essentials Survey provides a comprehensive picture of a school’s organizational culture in an individualized report measuring five “essentials” critical for school success:
•
Effective Leaders
•
Collaborative Teachers
•
Involved Families
•
Supportive Environment
•
Ambitious Instruction
Principals and superintendents will receive their 5Essentials Reports in May 2021. Survey results will also be reported publicly on the 5Essentials reporting site in Spring 2021 and on the State School Report Card website in Fall 2021 .
