KHS Junior Remy Hicks Selected for IHSA Student Advisory Committee

The Kewanee High School Athletic Department is proud to announce that Remy Hicks has been selected to be on the IHSA Student Advisory Committee. Remy Hicks is currently a Junior at Kewanee High School.

 

Background on Remy at KHS: 

FFA (Future Farmers of America): She has attended the Illinois State Convention, where Kewanee's FFA was recognized as the 6th Premier Chapter in the state.

Homecoming Court: Remy was a Freshman Attendant on the 2023 Homecoming Court.

Key Club: Kewanee High School Key Club was recognized as the 1st place global winner for the Single Service Award at Key Club International Convention.

Softball: She plays 2B, LF, and CF for the Kewanee Boilermakers softball team and was named to the 3rd team All State by the Illinois Coaches Association.

Basketball: She plays guard for the Kewanee Varsity Basketball team.

Volleyball: She plays DS (defensive specialist) for the Kewanee Varsity Volleyball team

 

Remy will represent IHSA District 11 and her duties and expectations on the IHSA Student Advisory Board will be:

 

 

An IHSA Student Advisory Committee (SAC) member's primary role is to promote sportsmanship and integrity and serve as a voice for Illinois high school student-athletes.

Key responsibilities include:

Attendance and Participation: Attending all scheduled in-person and virtual meetings.

Collaboration: Working in groups to discuss and decide on committee activities.

Event Participation: Organizing and presenting at the biennial Student Leadership Conference, judging the Student Section & Spirit Showdown, and attending at least one IHSA State Final event.

Representation: Representing one of 21 IHSA legislative districts to provide a student-athlete perspective.

Communication: Communicating with other members via the Remind app and email and posting on the IHSA SAC Instagram page.

Leadership Development: Collaborating with Illinois State University's School of Kinesiology and Recreation to develop psychological and life skills.
