Rebecca Baney, Tim Atwell, Chris SullensKewanee High School Athletic Director Tim Atwell has been named the Illinois Athletic Directors Association (IADA) 2025–2026 Athletic Director of the Year for Class 1A/2A, a statewide honor recognizing exceptional leadership and dedication to interscholastic athletics.

Atwell was recognized during the IADA State Conference Awards Dinner held March 15, 2026, at the Embassy Suites in Peoria, where athletic administrators from across Illinois gathered to celebrate excellence in athletic leadership.

The Athletic Director of the Year award is presented annually by the Illinois Athletic Directors Association to recognize administrators who demonstrate outstanding commitment to student-athletes, coaches, and educational-based athletic programs.

Atwell has served the Kewanee School District with a strong commitment to providing meaningful athletic opportunities for students while supporting coaches and promoting positive sportsmanship and community pride. Under his leadership, Kewanee athletics has continued to focus on student participation, program development, and the values of teamwork, character, and perseverance.

Superintendent Rebecca Baney attended the awards ceremony along with retired Kewanee Superintendent Dr. Chris Sullens to celebrate Atwell’s statewide recognition and his continued service to Kewanee students and athletic programs.

The Illinois Athletic Directors Association represents athletic administrators across the state and works to promote leadership, professional development, and excellence in interscholastic athletics.
